Popular amongst small breweries due to the hops classic bittering, flavor and aroma, Chinook provides a mild to medium-heavy, spicy, distinct piney aroma. With flavors and aroma’s of Fennel, Basil, Elderberry, Lychee, Red berries, Chinook is a high alpha acid hop with a more than acceptable aroma profile. Delivering piney and resinous aromas, especially as a dry hopping addition, Chinook was originally developed as a bittering hop. Typical A.A: 12 –14% Possible Substitutions: Columbus, Nugget, Northern Brewer, Magnum Beers: For utilization in US style Pale Ale’s, IPA’s, Stout, Porter, Barley wine and for bittering of Lagers, Chinook is a classic dry hop, especially while paired with hops bearing a more tropical fruit cast, complementing and providing the requisite pine edge to IPA, Double IPA and Imperial IPA. In Americanized Foreign Extra Stout or Imperial Stout, Chinook produces aromas reminiscent of berries and herbs to balance with the malt and residual sweetness of the finished beer.
